Asset Management/Investment Analysis System Based on EMS Principles
MACTEC’s Facility Lifecycle Group (FLG, www.mactec.com) has released Vertex 3.0, the latest and most comprehensive version of the company’s flagship facility asset management and investment analysis software product. Vertex 3.0 is a commercially maintained asset management and investment analysis system based on EMS (Engineered Management System) principles and standards (established by the U.S. Air Force; also updated/documented by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, American Society for Testing and Materials, and U.S. Department of Defense). The EMS approach uses life-cycle degradation curves. These are based on empirical data correlating observed asset condition with age for different categories of facility components to more accurately predict remaining service life. Vertex 3.0 uses web-based technology; facility data can be updated and forecasted results shared with anyone, anywhere, anytime. Vertex 3.0 will calculate an objective EMS-based current Condition Index (CI) for each asset component. It then uses a built-in “Asset Design Life” library to predict asset deterioration over time based on asset specifications, current condition, and age.
